#42 Butter + Beans At Seventeen

Another weekend morning, another caffeine affair, another ideally idle breakfast session.

I guess we were the only ones who woke up seven on a Sunday morning to grab a cuppa and some freshly baked pastries.

The cosy nook (with very limited tables and seats) looks intimidatingly bold with its confident if not extensive use of black-and-white monotones. Here, dark, brooding interior elements veritably clash with shades of white here and there. Yes, even the mural of a kite clockwork-flying kid painted by Ernest Zacharevi (Malaysian Banksy!) had managed to freak me out a little. That cunning smirk though...

No idea what to order for your caffeine fix? The bear looks more than welcome to show you what's brewing.

Besides that, the place really do serve an impressive array of scentful pastry. We asked for recommendations upon getting flustered by so many choices, which really was a question without a proper answer much to our dismay - 'Everything tastes good here', said the barista.

And our orders goes like...

Clockwise from top: Salmon Quiche (RM 10), Pain Au Choc (RM 6), Peach Cobbler (RM 5).
While the salmon quiche is inevitably scrumptious (it's their best-selling item), the other two bear fluffy insides and crispy layers without being overly flaky and thick.

From left: Hot Chocolate (RM 9.00) and Iced Chocolate (RM 11)

Right: Piccolo (RM 8)
The Piccolo, which is of Coffex Blend (presumably Grande) boasts smooth, velvety body with hints of dark chocolate, or was that nutty flavour? No points given for such pathetic attempt at being a coffee connoisseur.
