#29 Coffee Amo

With yet another hidden cafe uncovered along the bustling heritage vein of KL, 'Coffee Amo' is a quiet, seclusive gem located upstairs at one of Jalan Sultan's ancient shoplot. The place was so tranquil that one might even feel awkward moving around the place with unintended, echoing heavy footsteps.

For a cafe resembling the ones they would feature in the Lonely Planet guides, 'Coffee Amo' relatively blends Chinatown's unique old-world charm and coffee aroma into a perfect combination of time-tested history that resonates between geography and coffee brewery.

Cutesy chalk drawings are abundant.

As foreign tourists buries their nose in travel guides while sipping a cup or two, guitar-strumming fills the space with soft acoustic melody.

On a surprising note, the ever sacrilegious syrup-flavoured coffee is considered a signature item here. My glass of iced 'Ocean 11', a tangerine-flavoured coffee is an ordinary, chilly treat effective in beating the city heat. However, there's not much to scream about regarding any syrup-flavoured coffee here and out there.

You can locate the cafe joint along the ancient shophouses of Jalan Sultan. Follow the landmark labelled staircase and you will be greeted the very eerie Petaling Street Art House (featuring spooky Chinese opera props and wooden antiques, as shown in the photo below...), 'Coffee Amo' is just right around the corner.
