Hey guys!
As starter for my Ipoh foodie instalment, and if by chance any of you dear readers happen to be travelling around the Bercham suburb, do drop by this excellent noodle stall at Kedai Kopi Hup Huat.
A humble family business run by my grand-aunt, 肥仔云吞面, or Fatty Wonton Noodles as translated, specialises in freshly-prepared, home-cooked Chinese traditional dishes.
While duck meat dishes are the main highlight here, do sample these delicious braised pork goodness too: pork ribs and leg.
It was a crowded weekend at Ipoh when we visited my great-aunt's stall for breakfast, people can be seen having their morning dose of white coffee, which is a quintessential part for the locals to start their day.
Soft and succulent, the duck leg is the pièce de résistance among the delicacies. Take a sip of the aromatic broth for that extra 'oomph'!
Thanks to the pungent zest the ginger slices infused, the ginger-braised duck meat emanates tinge of exotic flavour coupled with the mild ginger spiciness. The pork leg on the other hand is a delightful dish that's special in its own way - a sweet and spicy kind of saucy awesomeness.
Next, we had the scrumptious pork ribs and the oh so fragrant curry chicken. With such scent to die for, I'm very sure that the curry chicken is a great complement with the dry noodles.
Of course, no wonton noodles stall is complete without its usual suspects of smooth-textured, meat-loaded water dumplings and chewy char siew (BBQ pork)...
Another highlight seems to be the chicken leg served in herbal soup. Not really a keen chicken leg diner myself, I must say that the herbal soup is pretty good.
So, there you go the first recommended spot to go for an authentic Chinese meal around Bercham, Ipoh.
