#85 Jelapang Rojak & Laksa Stall

The Ipoh food journey continues as we ventured into Jelapang - a suburban town situated west of Ipoh centre.

In the deep neighbourhood jungle of Jelapang lies a hidden gem - Jelapang's Rojak.

For first-timers, locating this place might come as a bit of a challenge since the place is a secretive establishment within the housing area. But I assure you the outcome of the feat is worth it...

Enter the 'Rojak'. Served the unconventional way of separating the dipping sauce from the fruit bunch, the fruit platter comprises of the usual favourites such as pineapples, guavas, cuttlefish and cucumbers. And here's the interesting bit: they even include jicama and crispy prawn crackers in the mix. Not so typical for a Malaysian rojak.

The highlight of the entire dish seems to be the homemade rojak sauce, which really is the raison d'etre for the fresh fruits. Have it with extra orders of crispy prawn crackers, 'cause such combo is to die for. Dark, sweet and topped with peanuts, the home concocted rojak sauce is sold in take-away bottles too.

Others selections include iced refreshments (coconut water and ABCs..) and of course, laksa!
